Exfoliate. Exfoliate. Exfoliate.

We cannot over stress the importance of pre-session exfoliation. 24-hours prior to your appointment, clear away any dry, dead skin cells with a pH balancing exfoliating scrub such as Norvell Renewing Sunless Exfoliator. For extreme areas use a deep exfoliating mitt, such as Dermasuri, no less than 24-hours prior to your session.

Avoid using Dial, Irish Spring, Lever 2000, or in-shower moisturizers/oils. These products can neutralize the DHA bronzing action within the skin.

Do not apply any lotion prior to your appointment. Wipes are available to remove makeup and deodorant, but it’s best to come to your appointment without makeup or lotion.

  Don’t Create Sunless Barriers

You do not want to apply anything to the skin that may act as a barrier between the sunless solution and the skin. Deep penetration is key to beautiful lasting color. Do not apply lotions, creams, or perfumes prior to session. Use deodorant sparingly.

Remove any make-up prior to sunless application. Wipes are available.

Wear loose fitting dark clothing and remove jewelry. Tight clothing can rub or smear bronzers, especially around the knees, elbows and waist.

What To Expect After Your Session

Tips for the Day of Your Appointment

For best results shower 16-24 hours after your session.

Vigorous activities should be avoided until after showering to prevent rubbing, sweating or streaking. Perspiring can result in a blotchy tan.

Do not shave for 24 hours, (See below for shaving tips).

Beware of rain - if weather looks questionable please wear long sleeves and long pants and bring an umbrella. We will walk you out to your car with an umbrella if needed.

If you have a pedicure scheduled within the 24 hours after your appointment, please notify the nail technician that you have had an airbrush tan and do not soak your feet or allow them to exfoliate your legs. It’s best to have a polish change only.

You must wear pajamas if sleeping within 8 hours of your session. This will prevent the tan from transferring from the skin onto your palms of your hands or from one body part to another.

REMEMBER:  The bronzer will wash off in the first shower. This is normal as it is only the color guide that is used when the tan is applied. You will be left with a gorgeous tan as long as you wait 8 hours or longer after your session to shower.

Maintaining Your SprayChic Tan

  1. Do not soak in the bath tub.

  1. Avoid long, hot showers as these speed up the fading of your tan.

  1. Do not use a loofah, mesh puff or washcloth.

  1. Do not use bar soap as this can alter the pH levels in your skin. Our recommendation is to use Norvell pH Balancing Cleanser which is available to purchase at SprayChic.

  1. Always use a fresh razor and shave with conditioner.

  1. Pat skin dry after showering.

  1. Moisturize twice a day using Norvell 24 Hour Moisturizer.

*Expect the face to fade faster especially if you cleanse, exfoliate or use an astringent everyday. Supplementing the tan with Norvell 4 Faces is the best way to maintain the tan on the face and can be used for touch ups all over.

The following items will lighten or remove the tan prematurely.

  1. Hair removal lotion (Nair, Veet, etc)

  1. Anti-aging products or AHA’s

  1. Retin-A or Retinol type products (Renova, Tazorac, Tretinoin)

  1. Astringents containing alcohols or Witch Hazel

  1. Anti-acne products (Accutane, Salicylic Acid, Benzoyl Peroxide)

  1. Facial Masks & Scrubs, Clarisonic

  1. Pore Cleansing Facial Strips

  1. Wax Depilatories

  1. Hot tubs, chlorine & salt water. Wear waterproof sunscreen to repel water. If you plan on being in the water, opt for the Ultimate SprayChic Tan which includes  the Hydro Firm post spray. This will help defend against elements such as these and prevent the tan from fading too quickly.
